Workshops
After watching The Lightfoot Band’s Thursday evening performance, what better way to get to know the Band than attending one of their two workshops on Friday afternoon at Creative Nomad Studios? As 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of its tragic sinking, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald will be the focus of both workshops, beginning at 1:00 and 2:30. Rick and Barry, the only two remaining band members from 50 years ago still touring (Ed Ringwald, aka ‘Pee Wee’ Charles is living in Waterloo), will recount how the song evolved, over a number of weeks in the studio, while recording the ‘Summertime Dream’ LP in 1976. In addition, Michael, Carter, and Andy will be there to add very insightful comments from their performances of this classic over the years. They will be joined by award-winning journalist John U. Bacon, whose newest publication ‘The Gales of November: The Untold Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald’, which drew on more than 100 interviews with the families, friends, and former crewmates and presents the definitive account of the disaster. For only $30, these workshops are not to be missed. Continue to check this site for ticket information.
